World Investment Report 2026 Press Conference_10
World Investment Report 2026 Press Conference On 7 July 2026 in Geneva, UN Trade and Development Acting Secretary-General Pedro Manuel Moreno spoke at the press conference launching the World Investment Report 2026: International Investment in a Turbulent Era at the Palais des Nations. The report finds that global foreign direct investment rose by 6 per cent in 2025 to $1.6 trillion, but that the recovery remains fragile and uneven. It highlights how investment is increasingly concentrated in strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, clean energy and critical minerals, while many developing economies continue to face challenges in attracting investment for sustainable development. Looking ahead, the report warns that trade policy uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and economic fragmentation could weigh on investment prospects in 2026 and beyond. Speakers included Pedro Manuel Moreno, Acting Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development; Nan Li Collins, Director of the Division on Investment and Enterprise; A. Sulstarova; and M. Meloni.
