Entrepreneurship for Migrants and Refugees

Indigenous Warao population from Venezuela currently living in a shelter in Roraima and Amazonas states, in Brazil, transform Amazon straw (Buriti) into beautiful handicrafts to be sold in São Paulo. UNCTAD, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) opened a photo exhibit in Geneva, Switzerland, on 18 November 2019 to show how migrant and refugee entrepreneurs contribute to the economic and social development of their host and origin countries. The exhibit was organized as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2019 and the photos were displayed in the Palais des Nations.
