UNCTAD16 Ministerial Meeting of Landlocked Developing Countries
22 October 2025 — Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), participated in the UNCTAD16 Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) in Geneva. The 32 LLDCs face deep structural constraints and geographical challenges that heighten their vulnerability to external shocks and limit sustainable development. Many rely heavily on the export of a few commodities, while high transport and trade costs reduce competitiveness and hinder participation in regional and global value chains. Discussions focused on advancing structural economic transformation and building productive capacities as key priorities for future international support measures to ensure inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth.
