Trade and Development Board, thirty-third special session

During this important gathering, the Board was expected to formally endorse the venue for the sixteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XVI). In her address, UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan expressed her profound gratitude to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam for their generous offer to host UNCTAD XVI. She highlighted the significance of this gesture as a testament to Viet Nam's commitment to advancing the multilateral agenda for trade and development. “Your leadership and vision,” said Ms. Grynspan, “serve as a powerful example of how nations can come together to chart a course toward shared prosperity. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to all the members of the Trade and Development Board for officially endorsing this nomination. Together, we reaffirm our collective commitment to the values of multilateralism, which are more critical than ever in today’s interconnected world.” The endorsement of Viet Nam as the host for UNCTAD XVI marks an important milestone in preparations for the conference, which promises to shape the future of trade and development dialogue on the global stage.
