The annual conference is a joint initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, and the Michael Otto Foundation. Uniting policymakers and business leaders to accelerate SDG performance, the Hamburg Sustainability Conference is a call to action. With the world facing existential threats such as poverty, hunger and climate change, it calls for courageous decisions and systemic, large-scale solutions. In a time of global conflict and crisis, the conference echoes the words of UN Secretary-General António Guterres: “The SDGs are in great difficulty.” It serves as a platform for improving global collaboration, forging new partnerships, and advocating for bold policies to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
