DSG Pedro Manuel Moreno speaks at UN’s first Biennial Summit on financing sustainable development
24 September 2025 — Pedro Manuel Moreno, Deputy Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), spoke at the United Nations’ first Biennial Summit for a sustainable, inclusive and resilient global economy. The Summit, hosted by the UN Secretary-General, acts on a key commitment in the Pact for the Future to reform the international financial architecture to better reflect and meet today’s needs. Bringing together heads of state, leaders of major multilateral platforms, and principals of international financial institutions, the Summit addresses urgent challenges in development finance, including a $4 trillion annual gap and widespread debt distress, while seeking to align and strengthen global efforts.
