24 September – Palais des Nations, Geneva At today’s launch of UNCTAD’s Review of Maritime Transport 2025, we warned that global shipping has entered uncharted waters. Not since the closure of the Suez Canal in 1967 have disruptions to trade routes been so sustained. This year’s Review shows how technological, environmental and geoeconomic transitions are converging at unprecedented speed – reshaping maritime transport and demanding urgent action to build resilience, inclusivity and sustainability.
